Noonday Demon (Purgatorio #4)

Curated by Sarah L. Pratt and Robert Bose

The world is a busy place, everyone rushing in mad circles somehow convinced that if you aren’t winning, you must be losing. But, for every unnatural force that drives you forward, there is a Noonday Demon to assist your vapid lounging, feet up, dissociating on Instagram, drinking larcenously priced mocktails in oblivious demotivation.

We invite you to join us on Terrace IV of Purgatory Towers and sink deep into these bizarre, creepish, and frequently hilarious, tales of sloth. You’ll find stern minions of Hell welcoming a lazy new arrival, a delivery man in China charged with transporting a suspiciously shaped package, and a cautionary tale of the perils of moving too fast through this life. From the vagaries of corporate damnation, to letting sleeping titans lie, to prehistoric megafauna, the fourth deadly sin manifests unexpected forms. So embrace the torpor and release yourself from the burden of virtuous productivity. You’ll be surprised at how good it feels…and maybe a little afraid.

Fire Sands

A novella by Randy Nikkel Schroeder – Summer of 2026.

The far future is ravaged by war and ruled by nightmare states. Worse yet, there are witches on the prowl, rivers running backward, and cows that may have become sentient.

In the blasted hellscape that is the Sixth Realm of Alberta, a children’s terrorist gang roams the gigantic Old Moon Mall and the underworlds beneath. Enraged by generations of extractive destruction, false promises, and ruined futures, they plan to exact revenge on their own parents by blowing up the capital city and the mighty resource fields that surround it.

New to the gang is young Orphid the orphan. She’s got magical DNA that holds the key to the plot. She’s got brothers and sisters at last. But can she keep her own hatreds from flaming out of control? And can she hold on to her new chosen family, the only one she’s ever known?

I think you know the answer.

Fire Sands is a slapstick splatterpunk dystopia sure to appeal to juvenile delinquents and defiant children who look suspiciously like adults—half comedy, half tragedy, all bad attitude.

A Queen in Amber

A cosmic horror novel by Robert Bose – Sometime in 2026.

Murder Most Alberta (tentative)

A crime anthology edited by Jeff R Campbell and Rick Overwater – Fall of 2026.
